History of Alexander Wang
She was born in 1984 in San Francisco, California to a Taiwanese-American family.
At the age of 18, he moved to New York City to study fashion at Parsons for two years, where he interned at Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, and Vogue (fashion magazine).
In 2004, he dropped out before graduation to start his own brand, Alexander Wang, and worked with his sister-in-law to create a collection of cashmere knitwear for three seasons.
In 2007, he made his debut at the New York Collections.
For the 2008 Spring/Summer New York collection, he applied tailoring techniques from men’s shirts to create a simple, modern, clean and pure image for working women.
Alexander Wang has also been the creative director of Balenciaga from 2012 to 2015.
Starting from the Spring/Summer 2019 season, the brand name will be changed from “ALEXANDER WANG” to “alexanderwang”. The name of the collection has also been rebranded as COLLECTION 1, 2…and so on a number of times.
