History of BAND OF OUTSIDERS
The founder of the company is Scott Sternberg. He was originally an agent in the film industry.
He started out making shirts and ties. Later, he had a handmade factory in New York and learned tailoring from tailors.
In 2007, the brand was selected as a finalist in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards.
He started a women’s line “Boy by Band of Outsiders” in the fall/winter 2007 season.
In 2009, he won the “CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award” in the men’s designer category.
In 2011, the polo shirt line “this is not a polo shirt.” and the women’s line “girl. by BAND OF OUTSIDERS” were launched.
The four lines were unified in 2013.
The brand was temporarily suspended during the spring/summer 2015 season; the brand was revived for spring/summer 2017.
A trio of three young designers took over as designers for the spring/summer 2017 season.
The brand concept remains the same, but now incorporates elements of the street, such as the skate culture of the 90s, where the three grew up.
