History of Michael Kors

Michael Kors launched his brand MICHAEL KORS in 1981, which was sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.
In 1983, after his debut, he received the first American Original Award sponsored by DuPont in recognition of his achievements, as well as steady activities such as holding shows in private homes called “Trunk Shoes.
However, in 1993, Michael Kors filed for bankruptcy even though he seemed to be on the fast track to success after his debut.
Later, with the support of LVMH, he launched his second line “KORS” in 1996, and in 1997, he became the creative director of CELINE.
In 1997, he became the creative director of Céline. There have been few cases in the past where an American designer has led a French brand, and he rejuvenated Céline with a style that combined the minimalist, sophisticated urban style of New York with the elegance of Paris.
From LVMH’s point of view, they bought Michael Kors as a designer for Celine, and it was a huge success.
He continued to expand the brand while working with Celine, and in 1999 he won the Designer of the Year award at the fashion world’s Oscars sponsored by the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America).
