History of John Lobb
The brand began in 1866 when John Robb, a shoemaker, opened a store on Regent Street in London.
In 1976, Hermès, which highly valued John Robb’s shoemaking skills, acquired the Paris boutique, and John Lobb became part of the Hermès Group.
Although John Lobb only offered made-to-order shoes, the brand launched its first ready-to-wear collection in 1982, and in 1990 opened its first store in Paris selling ready-to-wear shoes.
In 1990, the brand opened its first ready-to-wear store in Paris, and in 1994, it established a factory in Northampton, England, a location that is home to many prominent shoe manufacturers.
The current ready-to-wear shoe designs and handmade shoes are made at this factory.
