History of soe
The founder and director of the company is Soichiro Ito.
He was born in Tokyo in 1977.
After studying in London, he returned to Japan in 1998 and entered Aoyama Gakuin University. While studying
economics, he began making clothes while still in school.
He started his menswear brand “soe” in the 2001 Fall-Winter season and debuted at the Tokyo Collections in the 2004
Fall-Winter season.
He started the shirt line “soe shirts” in the 2008 Fall-Winter season.
It opened a store at the Paris Men’s Collection in the 2015 – 16 fall/winter season.
In 2008, Yuki Takagi (Yuki Takagi) joined John soei and worked as an assistant in planning and production until
2015, and became the designer of the men’s department from 2015.
He started the women’s line “soe WOMEN” in 2016.
After the 2018 – 19 fall/winter collection, Mr. Ito retired from his position as designer and became director.
Men’s and women’s lines have been integrated starting with the Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
