History of Breguet
The history of Breguet began in 1775 when watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet founded the company.
He started his watchmaking workshop on the Île de la Cité in Paris, France.
In 1824, the founder’s son, Antoine-Louis Breguet, took over the Maison, which then expanded over three generations.
In 1870, Louis-Clement Breguet, the third-generation head, sold the watchmaking division of the Maison to Edward
Brown.
In the 1970s, control passed to Chaumet, renowned for jewelry, which revived the brand.
In 1999, Breguet joined the Swatch Group, which also owns Omega, Jaquet Droz, and others.
