What is BYRNE?
BYRNE is an independent luxury watch brand based in Geneva, Switzerland.
It describes what it does as “haute couture mecanique”: a world first in which the mechanical movement
itself changes the design of the dial.
The key to it is the patented Gyro Dial. The four indexes at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock pivot in an instant — at
a set hour each day or on demand — giving a single watch four different faces. The brand’s motto says it
plainly: “Change your mind in a flash.”

History of BYRNE
The brand’s roots lie in a family watch-restoration business begun some thirty years ago. Founder John
Byrne is a specialist in restoring antique and contemporary watches, and trained in design as well.
The turning point came in 2015, while he watched Balanchine’s ballet Apollon Musagete at the Paris opera.
With his wife Claire Cohen he headed for Fleurier in Switzerland, set up production in the heart of Swiss
fine watchmaking, and completed the Gyro Dial movement in 2021. The brand made its debut at Geneva Watch
Days in 2022.
BYRNE’s most popular items
The Gyro Dial ZERO. Here the dial is dispensed with altogether and the movement becomes the face of the
watch. A 41.7mm stainless steel case houses the in-house calibre 5555, good for around 60 hours of power
reserve.
The Gyro Dial MECA. A 36 x 38mm grade 5 titanium case carrying the skeletonised hand-wound calibre 5557.
Slimmed to 12mm, it shows off four indexes sculpted in three dimensions.
The Gyro Dial 311. A satin-finished grade 5 titanium case of 41.7mm with the automatic calibre 5555.
Alongside Roman numerals, Arabic numerals and ghost numerals, its fourth face carries a secret number
engraved on the crown.
