History of A. LANGE & SÖHNE
The brand traces its origins to a watchmaking workshop founded in 1845 in Dresden, Germany, by Ferdinand Adolph Lange, who gained experience under a court watchmaker and later honed his craft as a watchmaker in various countries.
He laid the foundation for Saxony’s luxury watch industry. The pocket watches crafted by Ferdinand are highly valued and are still owned by collectors around the world today.
The watch factory was destroyed during World War II.
After the war, A. Lange & Söhne was nationalized by the East German government, and the brand was suspended.
Following German reunification in 1990, Walter Lange, Ferdinand’s great-grandson, revived the brand.
