History of Missoni
The founders were Ottavio Missoni and Rosita Missoni.
In 1953, the Italian couple Ottavio Missoni and Rosita Missoni established a knitwear workshop in the basement of their home.
During a small collection called “Milano-Simpathy” in 1958, a label bearing the name “Missoni” was sewn onto the garments.
In 1966, they debuted their collection in Milan.
Their designs, distinctly different from previous knitwear, garnered significant attention.
In 1997, Angela Missoni took over as Creative Director of the fashion division. Rosita focused on the home collection.
In 2021, Angela Missoni stepped down after 24 years as Creative Director.
That same year, Filippo Grazioli was appointed Creative Director for Missoni’s men’s and women’s collections and lifestyle.
