ROCHAS specializes in creating garments that combine elegant fabrics such as lace, silk chiffon, and silk satin. The brand also has a “film division” that provides costumes to actresses such as Marlene Dietrich.

What is ROCHAS?


Rochas is a French fashion brand. Although it originally grew primarily through apparel, it has expanded into the fragrance sector through acquisitions and other means since the 1980s.
Designer Marcel Rochas was a pioneer in haute couture known for his innovative ideas. He introduced designs such as skirts with pockets and three-quarter-length coats, and within the world of haute couture, he was compared to other iconic designers of the era, such as Christian Dior with his New Look and Elsa Schiaparelli with her shoulder designs.

History of ROCHAS


In 1925, Marcel Rochas (1902-1955) founded the company in Paris.
In 1987, the cosmetics company Wella acquired Rochas. As a result, the focus of Rochas’s business shifted toward the fragrance sector. In 1989, Peter O’Brien, who had built his career at Givenchy and Chloé, was appointed designer.
In 2002, Olivier Theyskens was appointed Artistic Director.
In 2008, Marco Zanini took over. He presented the Fall/Winter 2009 collection in a showroom format. The brand returned to the runway with the Spring/Summer 2010 Paris prêt-à-porter collection.
In 2021, Charles de Vilmorin was appointed as the new Creative Director.
