BALLY — 170 Years as an Architect of Leather

Born in Switzerland in 1851, BALLY still carries the traditions of leather and shoemaking that shaped it.
Its blend of genuine craftsmanship and contemporary design has kept the brand loved the world over.
Here we introduce the appeal of BALLY.

What is BALLY?

BALLY is a Swiss luxury house and one of the oldest brands of its kind in the world.

It thinks of itself as an architect of leather, uniting craftsmanship backed by history with a confident,
contemporary design language.

Its most iconic shoes still pass through some 240 separate operations and are finished by hand in
Switzerland. The two-tone Bally Ribbon remains one of the details that instantly identify the house.

History of BALLY

Carl Franz Bally began in 1851 with a family ribbon factory in Schonenwerd, Switzerland. A trip to Paris,
where he was captivated by the shoes worn by Parisian women, set him on the path to shoemaking.

Boutiques followed in Montevideo in 1870 and Paris in 1879 as the house grew into a global name. In 1951 the
founder’s grandson Max Bally launched the SCRIBE collection, and that tradition still runs through what the
brand makes today.
