Church’s shoes are produced using the Goodyear Welt method, a double-stitching technique that requires 250 steps (about 8 weeks) before the final polishing.

History of Church’s
In 1873, the three Church brothers, Thomas, Alfred, and William, founded the shoe brand Church in Northampton, England, which has prospered in the leather goods and shoe industry since the Middle Ages.
Within a few years of its establishment, Church’s grew from a small artisan workshop to a high-end footwear manufacturer.
The name became well known not only in Northampton, but also in fashion-conscious London and other European cities.
In 1921, the first Church’s store was established.
A new factory was established in 1957, which still serves as Church’s headquarters today.
In 1965, Queen Elizabeth II visited the factory and presented the Queen’s Award for Export Excellence to the company.
This award established Church’s status as an international brand.
In 1999, the Prada Group acquired the company. After the acquisition, Church’s image shifted from the traditional British image to a more modest one, and the brand became even more popular.
Church has been opening new stores in important international cities around the world.
Milan opened in 2001, Paris, Rome, and St. Moritz in 2002, and New York in 2003.
In 2013, Church opened its first flagship store in Japan, in Omotesando, Tokyo.
